What are the difference between Search Engine and Directories?

A Search Engine is a programme that usually finds or searches for and recognizes different items in and from a database which corresponds to relevant and important keywords stated by the user and especially used for the purpose of searching the specific sites or blogs or forums or so forth on the WWW (World Wide Web). It is a system of software which is maintained and designed to recognize information on the World Wide Web.

On the other hand, Directory can be referred to computing directory, service directory, political directory, business directory, telephone directory and web directory. Generally a directory is used for the purpose of organizing information of a specific type in a particular form, for instance a telephone directory. But a web directory is a subject guide, commonly organized by huge topics and subtopics. For instance, Yahoo is one of the famous web directories in the world (http://www.yahoo.com).

An Introduction to Website or Web pages, Web portal and Directories

A website is also known as web site or often called site is a bunch of web pages generally work from a single web domain, where a web site or a site is hosted on a web server, at least one, reachable through a network like Internet or any private local area network (LAN), from end to end of an Internet address familiar with a Uniform Resource Locator (URL). All reachable websites collectively comprised with the World Wide Web (www). A webpage is generally a document commonly written in a plain text distributed with formatting directions of HTML (HyperText Markup Language), XHTML (Extensible HyperText Markup Language). Web pages are retrieved and transferred with HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol) to provide privacy for the purpose of user of the webpage content. A website’s pages can normally be retrieved from a URL (Uniform Resource Locator), generally called the web address.
Categories of Websites
Static Website
Generally there are two types of websites. One is Static website and the other is Dynamic website. A static website is one which has generally web pages keep in reserve in a format which is sent to a client web browser. These static web pages are generally coded in HTML (HyperText Markup Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) are commonly used to manage and control the appearance of HTML. This kind of website generally shows the same information to all the visitors. Static websites normally show consistent level information for the purpose of long period of time.
Dynamic website
A dynamic website is one which can customizes or can changes at any time if required all the time. There are several softwares available for generating dynamic web sites, such as CGI, Java Servlets and Java Server Pages, Active Server Pages and ColdFusion. Many web application and web templates available for the purpose of using programming languages, such as PHP, Perl, Python etc. to build a rapid and dynamic website.

A web portal sometimes called a especial web page designed with several functions that brings information at the same time from different origins in a uniform way. Generally each of the sources of information gets its allocated place on the page for the purpose of displaying information; sometimes a user also can configure which one is to show. For instance of earlier public web portals AOL, Excite, Netvibes, iGoogle, MSN, Naver, Lycos, Indiatimes, Rediff and Yahoo!. Web portals are often differentiated as vertical and horizontal. A vertical portal is a special one which enters into the point to a specific market or interest.

Types of Web Portals

Web portals are often separated as horizontal and vertical portals. A horizontal portal is mainly used as a platform to different companies in the same economic sector or same kind of producers or distributors. On the other hand a vertical portal is one of the specialized entry points to a particular industry or subject area or demand.

Directory

At present time many other sites have been using a yahoo-like web directory including major portal sites.

How do we search and What is PR (Page Rank)?

Now the question is how to use Google or Bing or Yahoo to search your desired website or blog? The first thing is that if you know the name of the site, I mean if you know the URL (Uniform Resource Locator)  or the name of the site, say my site name – yoga2all.com and you directly type the site name on the search engine, then you will find out the site. But if you do not know the site name but you wish to find a specific topics, for instance if you want to know something about Types of Breathing Exercise or Pranayama, then you must type these relevant keywords, say – pranayama types, types of pranayama, types of breathing exercise or breathing exercise types and so on.

When you are typing your desired search term or keyword on the search engine, within a few seconds some of the high ranked websites or blogs will show on the results pages of your desktop or laptop computer screen.

Now click on your desired site you wish to see, as you have already seen a title of a site page or post and a small Meta description is written under each search result. Read the Meta description and go for that.

What is Page Rank?

Generally a PageRank is the number that Google assigns to each website and even each of the website pages within its index, on a scale of 0 to 10 in numbers, to show its algorithm’s calculated assessment of the overall essentiality of the site or blog and even how it would rank in a search results. Though it is not only a single algorithm used by the google to index websites and shows on its search engine results page but also the first algorithm that was used by Google and due to that it is well-known to all.

More clearly we can say that a PageRank results is a form of mathematical algorithm which is based on the webgraph invented by www (World Wide Web) pages as nodes and hyperlinks. The rank of a page or a website or blog depends upon the importance of a particular page. A hyperlink to a page counts as a vote of support. A page which has linked with many other important pages usually receives a high rank itself.

How do Search Engines Work?

Search Engine Optimization
All most all the Search Engines have two crucial functions, one is crawling and the second is indexing by which provide answers through calculating the relevancy and importance of the search. When an individual inputs a keyword into the search engine according to his or her needs, gets the result.

The search engine first crawl the content from million of websites and blogs, based on the keyword given by the person and at the same time index the site or blog to show on the search engine result page in accordance with the site’s rank. Once the search engine recognizes the page or pages the person desired to get, the search engine then decode the code from them and store it into some selected pieces in a massive hard disks, to be remembered later when needed for any search query. To acknowledge this enormous task of holding billions of pages which can be retrieved within a fraction of second, because the search engines have built data centers throughout the world. These hideous storage facilities of information hold thousands of electronic devices performing a large number of information.

More easily we can say that a Search Engine is nothing but an answering machine. When an individual input a keyword to search an information the search engine find and recognize and shows the result on the result page with the help of crawler, the process is done within in a second or two, because no one will wait longer to see a result, so a search engine works hard to find the information in a minimum time. The search engine shows a search result which is relevant to the searcher’s query and the rank of those result pages of page of the perceived usefulness as well as utility.

So, here it is clear that “Relevance” and “Importance” are the two influential term in SEO. To a Search Engine “Relevance” meaning more than easily searching a page with the right keywords. And on the other hand a Search Engine “Importance” meaning the popularity of a website or blog, or a web page or a blog page or post, the more valuable the content rich in useful and important information the more popularity of the webpage is. Because all the giant search engines are practicing these techniques very successfully. They first look the users’ satisfaction by using metrics that generally interpret popularity. The popularity of a website of blog is determined with the help of certain mathematical equations and algorithms.

What is a Search Engine, Crawling and Indexing?

Search Engine Optimization
A Search Engine is a programme that usually finds or searches for and recognizes different items in and from a database which corresponds to relevant and important keywords stated by the user and especially used for the purpose of searching the specific sites or blogs or forums or so forth on the WWW (World Wide Web). It is a system of software which is maintained and designed to recognize information on the World Wide Web. The search results are commonly given in a line search results and sometimes mentioned to as SERPs or called Search Engine Results Pages. The information can be of different types such as, images, written documents or contents, videos or other types of files. Almost all the search engine preserves real-time information in running crawler and algorithm.

What is Searching?

A Search Query or a Web Search Query is a term or words or keyword enters into a web-search-engine to satisfy an individual’s information needs. It can be sometimes plain text or hypertext. This can be varied with simple to standard query languages that are regulated and managed by strict syntax rules as command languages with proper keyword.

There are three categories of Searching which cater most of the web search queries such as transactional, informational and navigational.

A Web Crawler is an Internet bot which systematically browses the WWW (World Wide Web), for web indexing in a typical manner. A Web Crawler sometimes known as Web Spider or an Ant or often called an Automatic Indexer or a Web Scutter. But it is popularly known as Web Crawler. Generally all the giant search engines use this web crawling system software to update its web contents and also to index other websites contents and information.  Crawlers can also validate HTML and Hyperlinks. It also used for the purpose of web scraping.

You Can Target Mid Range Keywords For B2B SEO Campaign

Keyword Research
Whether you are thinking to start or just started a B2B SEO campaign or just you have added few additional pages to your blog then you should optimize your site. Why I am telling this is very much important because you need to start your keyword research at the very beginning phase of your blog. You have a great tool in hand Google Keyword Planner Tool that will surely help you in this matter. How to find out your desired keywords? You just type your desired keywords that you like to target, and the tool will provide you a list of keywords and average monthly search information, based on the location you have selected. Like High competition, Medium competition and Low competition keywords.

About High Search Volume Keywords

In generally when I start keyword research for my clients, I first prefer to find monthly search numbers and wish to target only those keywords that have highest search volume. Though, I do it because they like to do it. Some of the people think that if they target keywords that are high search volume their blog or site will get good rank in search engine and will get more visitors. But what I have found that it is not very easy. Because what I think is that like the same thought other website owners in your niche are also preparing and thinking the same.

Beginning SEO Tips by Keywords

As far as my concept says if you are at the beginning stage of SEO for your new blog or website or you are thinking to optimize for your newly added pages in your blog or site, then you can target high search volume and high competition keywords, you should not target mid range keywords. I have seen sometimes people search to find something by giving mid range with long keywords that are especially used to search some specific kind of information that is also very useful to improve conversion rate. Although, I also believe if you target mid range keywords there is also a better option that your site or blog can start to rank very quickly for the keywords that you have already targeted. Once you start getting success then you can add some high competitive keywords with your mid range keywords.

Success of SEO

The success of SEO for a website of blog fully depends on the trust of a website, which is a time consuming work. Your site or blog will not be able to get higher rank in a search engine within a day or two, it will surely take time. A search engine does not want to rank a web page or blog page which has just launched a few days or month before and which is not so valuable and can only last for a short period of time. A search engine always ranks good pages which are bunched with information, with relevant keywords and maintained with proper keyword density with catchy title and subtitle. It really takes a couple of time for a website or blog to attain that ladder. You need to have patience and constant research to touch the apex. This is the ultimatum truth; this is the part of SEO as such a long term process. Whether you are not in SEO from a couple of time, getting success is very much difficult.

Top 3 Types of Posts to Make Your Blog Always Active

3 Most Important Tops for an Active Blog
There are several benefits to continuing a good business blog. You can say this blog will be your gateway to share all your experience and skills with your target visitors or future audiences and would treat one of the most believable sources of information about your business. It not only helps you in SEO (Search Engine Optimization) tasks but also gives you an extra benefit of it. What is that benefit? You are regularly updating your site or blog about your expertise and sharing your skills in your domain and your targeted visitors are also commenting on your post, it means your posts and pages are continuously scanning and crawling by different search engines and indexing regularly, according to the related keyword searched. It keeps your blog fresh and makes your blog attractive every time to the search engines.

And at the same time if you do connect your blog with different social media sites then you will get new followers and visitors as well. No doubt these all things can only be possible if you make your blog active always. I hope surely you will do that. A business blog if not updated on a regular basic is really bad task than not having a business blog at all. Though, it is not very easy to make update your business blog regularly, though it is even time consuming too. But as you know very well there is not short cut to success.

Here, I have discussed Top Three Types of Blog Posts that can really help you a lot and can bring you success for your business blog.

Informational Blog Posts

The informational blog posts should make up the larger part of your blog and its post. These types of post are really very good and you have to make it exceptional with full of your expertise and skills. These posts should be other sources of information across the web and should be generated with quality inbound links with your site. Surly, time of post take a pretty lot time to prepare but you need to work on that.

Video Blog Posts

If you business needs lots of videos and has been connecting or posting them to YouTube then why are you not connecting or sharing these videos with your blog? If you are sharing these videos then it is great, I must say to you. Try to write quick information about your videos and embed the videos, now it is done. And if you are still have not built any videos. Then do now worry about it. This is just a child’s work. All you just need to gather some video content such as conducted a webinar, held a training or conference at an event etc. and an easy editing apparatus. That is all. Why I am telling you to post videos and video based content for your blog? Because there are different people who do not like to read text posts, often they like to read and see videos. So you always need to look after every kind of visitors.

Roundup Posts for Other Great Content

It is truly a great thing if you read other industries blogs and their posts and publications online. Not only it helps you to increase your knowledge and expertise but also gives you a chance to comment on their blog and make a professional connection that will surely boost your search engine rank. Really I have connected my blog Yoga2all with different blogs and do comment in their blog with my blog name and I made lots of connections with different bloggers and professionals who are running their blogs and sites in different topics. If you get some good comment with external quality links for other sites and if you do share it with other social media to share with your friends and all. Then I must stay you have done a correct thing. It is really a great way to promote goodwill within your industry and community.
